Join hundreds of friends and neighbors at our annual spring Duwamish Alive! event along the Duwamish Shoreline behind BECU in Tukwila!
At the Duwamish Shoreline, we will be removing some invasive weeds that are choking out native plants and spreading mulch to continue to bring this location back to its former glory! While you’re here, keep an eye out for otter, osprey and other wildlife making their home along the river’s edge. This is a great way to give back to your local community, and is also an awesome opportunity to meet some new faces, to get your hands dirty, and to get outside and connect with the Green-Duwamish River!
What to bring: Please dress for the weather because we will be working rain or shine! Boots or comfortable athletic shoes, work clothes, appropriate layers for rain and sun (including sunscreen). Volunteers should also bring a refillable water bottle; snacks and lunch will be provided, so make sure to stick around!
Restoration training, tools and gloves will also be provided. No experience necessary, so make sure to bring along your friends, family, and neighbors!
Youth volunteers: If you are under 18 and attending the event without a parent or guardian, please come to the event with a Youth Waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Youth Waiver for Forterra Restoration Events can be found here.
Forterra is a proud partner of the Duwamish Alive Coalition, which is a collaborative effort of local communities, municipalities, non-profits and businesses within the Duwamish River Watershed to preserve and enhance habitat for people and wildlife towards improving the health of the Puget Sound. The Coalition works to improve the ecological health of our watershed through community engagement and volunteer-based habitat restoration.
